We’re leaving together…

But still it’s farewell
And maybe we’ll come back
To Earth, who can tell?
I guess there is no one to blame
We’re leaving ground
Will things ever be the same again?

It’s the final countdown!

We’re nearly ready. After weeks of anticipation, preparation, planning and acquiring all the equipment we think we’ll need for months away from home, we are just a few days away from an early morning ferry to St Malo to embark on our European odyssey.

We are both really excited (and a little bit anxious). We can’t wait for the new experiences, meeting new people and the simple life in the saddle. But…

  • How will we adapt to a life away from all the home comforts we normally take for granted?
  • Who will win out in the accommodation stakes? Luxury spas and soft beds vs. Campsites and inflatable mattresses!
  • Was the decision to pause a busy career the right thing?
  • How will the ‘kids’ and dog survive without us?
  • What route will we end up taking?
  • Are we taking too much with us or not enough?
  • Will schoolboy/girl French cause chaos?

We hope we can answer all these questions (and more) in these pages over the coming weeks and months as we work our way across Europe.

Thanks for taking an interest in our travels. Next blog should hopefully be from France!

Song for the week has been well telegraphed (and from the most appropriately named band too!). Rock on!
